Valuations for Valuation Rolls
The Valuer General prepares a valuation roll on the declaration of a Valuation Area at the request of an authority other than the Government, that authority must pay to the State a prescribed fee as determined by the Valuer General.
Through the valuation process new valuation rolls are produced for valuation declared area for rating & taxing purposes. Rolls areas assessed after every 5 years for main provincial towns & cities and 7 years for smaller towns.
The Purpose of Valuation Rolls
- To allow your Town Council/Authority, Local Level Government or Provincial Assembly to share the rate burden between landowners.
- Your Local Council /Town Authority, Local Level Governments or Provincial Assembly, according to its budget needs, sets the general rates payable.
- Water, sewerage and cleansing rates are generally separate charges.
- Valuations are also used for State Land Lease Rental purposes
