PNG Surveyors Board

Board Establishment
The Surveyors Board is established under Section 6 to 14 of Survey Act and
the establishment, composition and meetings of the Board.

The Surveyor General by virtue of his position is the Chairman. There are six (6) other members appointed by the Minister Of Lands by notice in the National Gazette. Three of these members are appointed by the panel of 4 names of registered Surveyors submitted by the ASPNG while the other three are DLPP registered surveyors.

Board Registrar

The appointment of Registrar is made under Section 15 of Survey Act (Chapter 95)

Board Function
The Board maintains high professional standards within the survey profession and regulates the practice of authorised surveys.

Before a person can carry out authorised surveys he must be registered by the Surveyors Board. The Board must be satisfied that a person is competent by the satisfactory completion of his training and by his having passed certain prescribed examinations. The Board maintains a register of Surveyors and Certified Measurers.

Under Section 26, the Board has powers to de-register a surveyor or certified measurer for offences ranging from professional misconduct to criminal convictions.
