AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY |
Aerial photography has a multitude of applications and can be used in urban and regional planning, asset management, primary industry and natural resource management. Images are available in a range of formats and can be overlaid with other mapping information from NMB to develop customised products. The Bureau has complete coverage of PNG with black and white photography taken between 1973 and 1975 (Skai Piksa series). |
|
We also hold older black and white and limited colour photography from the 1950s and 60s and a collection of photography at various scales over PNG towns taken since 1980. |
|
SATELLITE IMAGERY |
As well as archiving historical satellite data for the National Government a range of products and services have been developed to support natural resource and land management. Many are also used extensively by agricultural industries, rural planners, developers, exploration industries, environmental groups and other Government Agencies. Products are available in a variety of formats and can be combined with other data sets to produce customised maps and images. The National Mapping Bureau operates ER Mapper software on Sun workstations for enhancing and manipulating remotely sensed data. Spot and Landsat imagery is available for much of the country. Image output can be provided in hardcopy or digital format as requested by the client.
