ISCAT

The Information Systems, Communications and Technology (ISCAT) Unit is responsible for the Department of Lands and Physical Planning's (DLPP) IT, the internet/intranet and country wide communication within and between Regional Offices and the Headquarters. The ISCAT Unit is part of the DLPP's Corporate Services Division.

Recently ISCAT has upgraded the DLPP's Local Area Network (LAN) and the Lands and Geographical Information Systems (LAGIS) servers to enable the Department to provide better services to its staff and customers.

A program of communication upgrade had already started with first connecting the Lae Office to the Headquarters using wireless and Virtual Private Networking through wireless technology. After implementing this system, the Lae Office Staff have the same access to all DLPP communication and IT facilities available in Port Moresby to Port Moresby Headquarters Staff. This will be rolled out to other Local Offices soon.

Currently, ISCAT is involved with a number of major IT, information systems and the internet projects such as digitizing of the titles and purchase documents, DLPP website, Land and Geographical Information System
re-development and provision of IT training for all Lands Staff to name a few.

The IT technologies used in the DLPP are world class and most updated technologies available in PNG.

To assist us to move forward in a systematic and efficient way, ISCAT has completed an information systems, communications and technology strategic plan which is in-line with the DLPP's Corporate Plan.
